As the construction industry continues to evolve across North America, one thing has become increasingly clear: the future of the workforce and the supply chain should reflect the diversity of the communities it serves. That reality was a key driver behind NHCA’s recent attendance at SICON MX 2026, one of Mexico’s premier construction and infrastructure conferences hosted at IFEMA.
Our motivation for attending was straightforward. Earlier this year at the International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Orlando, we observed a noticeable gap—a lack of representation from Latin American suppliers, manufacturers, and platforms. Given that Latinos make up a significant portion of the U.S. construction workforce, this disconnect presents both a challenge and an opportunity.
At NHCA, we see that opportunity clearly.
SICON MX provided a powerful platform to engage directly with companies that are already innovating across Latin America but have limited exposure in the U.S. market. Our goal was not just to attend, but to actively identify and build relationships with partners who can help strengthen the construction ecosystem for Hispanic workers, contractors, and developers in the United States.
Throughout the conference, we held a series of productive meetings with organizations well-positioned to make an impact. Among them were Midea, Urrea, Greentree, Lazzar, Marel, and Lumengeo—each representing a different segment of the construction supply chain. From advanced building materials and manufacturing capabilities to HVAC solutions, tools, and emerging platforms, these companies bring both scale and innovation.
What stood out in these conversations was a shared recognition: there is a growing demand in the U.S. for culturally aligned, accessible, and high-quality products and services that resonate with Hispanic professionals in construction. However, many of these companies have yet to fully establish a presence or strategy tailored to this market.
That’s where NHCA comes in.
We are aggressively working to bridge this gap, not just by introducing suppliers to the U.S., but by creating pathways for meaningful integration. Through our national chapter network, strategic partnerships, and industry events, we provide access points that connect manufacturers and service providers directly with the workforce and business owners who need them most.
This is more than just market expansion; it’s about moving upstream in the supply chain and creating a more responsive construction ecosystem.
Our time at SICON MX reinforced our belief that the future of construction in the U.S. will be shaped by stronger cross-border collaboration. We are committed to continuing this momentum and are already planning to return to SICON in 2027, while also seeking additional opportunities to participate and collaborate in expos and conferences across the U.S. and Latin America in a more meaningful and intentional way.
By bringing in new suppliers, platforms, and partners from Latin America, we can help ensure that the industry is better equipped to support its fastest-growing workforce segment.
NHCA remains committed to leading this effort—creating opportunities, building bridges, and driving growth that benefits the entire construction community.
