NHCA – New York City
New York is built by people.
Across the five boroughs, the construction industry brings together skilled tradespeople, contractors, developers, project managers, architects, engineers, financial institutions, public agencies, educators, students, and countless other professionals responsible for building and maintaining one of the world's most dynamic cities.
New York's continued investment in housing, infrastructure, redevelopment, and building modernization creates opportunities at every level of the construction industry. Yet access to those opportunities often depends on more than technical ability—it also requires strong relationships, trusted networks, professional development, and ladders to leadership and growth.
The NHCA New York Chapter exists to build and strengthen those ladders of opportunity for Hispanic construction professionals.
Our goal is to connect the people who build New York and create more opportunities for everyone to grow. By bringing together students, tradespeople, contractors, professionals, businesses, industry leaders, government, educational institutions, and community partners, we are building a network where people can find the connections, knowledge, mentorship, and opportunities they need to move forward.
Chapter Focus
The NHCA New York City Chapter is focused on building ladders of opportunity throughout the construction industry.
We believe the next generation of construction professionals should have access to the same networks and relationships that can help established professionals advance their careers and businesses. That means creating stronger connections between education and industry, between training and employment, and between professionals and the people who can help them grow.
Through partnerships with educational institutions and industry and community organizations, the chapter will help students and emerging professionals explore career paths, establish meaningful connections, and bridge the gap between education and real-world opportunities.
Through education, mentorship, and leadership development, members will strengthen their professional and business capabilities, learn from experienced industry leaders, and develop the skills and confidence to guide others as they advance.
The chapter will also strengthen business relationships across New York's construction ecosystem, bringing together diverse industry stakeholders to exchange knowledge, develop strategic partnerships, and explore opportunities for collaboration and business growth.
At the center of this work is a simple idea:
Training creates potential. Relationships create access. Opportunity creates growth. Leadership creates the next generation.
Our vision is to build a community where relationships create opportunity, leadership inspires growth, and each generation adds more rungs for the one that follows.
Leadership isn't about standing at the top of the ladder. It's about building more rungs so others have the opportunity to climb.

A Message From Kim Ortega, NHCA-New York City, President
Opportunity doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when people have access to the right relationships, resources, and opportunities at the right time.
Every building, road, bridge, project, and neighborhood represents the work of thousands of people across different trades, businesses, professions, and communities. The strength of our construction industry depends not only on the work being done today, but on whether we are creating opportunities for the people who will build New York tomorrow.
That is why I’m proud to lead the NHCA New York City Chapter.
Our goal is to build a network that connects people across the construction ecosystem, from students and tradespeople to contractors, developers, engineers, project managers, financial institutions, government, and industry partners.
We want to create the connections that turn training into opportunity, relationships into business, and experience into leadership.
We also believe that leadership is about creating opportunities for others. When someone moves forward, they should be able to reach back and help the next person climb.
The NHCA NYC Chapter is being built to do exactly that: create more connections, more opportunities, and more pathways for the Hispanic construction community while strengthening the industry as a whole.
We’re building the network one connection and one rung at a time.
I’m excited for what we can build together.
