A National Milestone and a Bold New Chapter for NHCA

Last week marked a powerful milestone in the journey of the National Hispanic Construction Alliance (NHCA)—the formal installation of our inaugural national board of directors in Washington, D.C. It was more than a ceremonial moment; it was a declaration that the Hispanic construction community is organizing, mobilizing, and rising together with one voice.

The event drew an engaged and diverse audience—not just our current sponsors, but also key stakeholders from across the construction industry. These attendees are watching NHCA closely, curious and encouraged by how we are building local impact through a unified national mission. The energy in the room was electric, and the message was clear: NHCA is not just growing; we are shaping the future.

What struck me most was the atmosphere of unity. In an industry that can often feel fragmented, our gathering signaled something different. People are beginning to realize that supporting a national voice doesn’t mean giving up their own. It means that when we align around core issues—workforce development, access to capital, safety, training, and opportunity—our collective voice travels further, resonates deeper, and creates the kind of momentum needed to turn ideas into impact.

I was particularly encouraged by the presence of groups like the Latino Federal Contractors Alliance and the Alliance for Hispanic Commercial Contractors. While we have not yet formalized relationships, their attendance speaks to the potential for stronger alignment across our respective missions. It shows that more of us in the broader ecosystem are beginning to see the value in working together to expand opportunities and drive equity in the industry.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also keep our focus on what’s ahead. And the next 90 days offer another opportunity to build forward. This September, NHCA will proudly host a five-hour workshop at AVANCE Global titled Build the Builder.

This training was inspired by conversations with Freddie Mac that challenged us to think about how we can better prepare Hispanic contractors to take on development roles in the built environment. Build the Builder is designed to introduce contractors and construction professionals to the fundamentals of multi-unit development, with sessions focused on site selection, underwriting, bidding and estimating, and project management. Our goal is to inspire participants to see development as a viable next step in their construction journey.

This program is about more than technical knowledge—it’s about vision. It’s about planting the idea that our members can move beyond the jobsite and into the roles of owner, developer, and community builder. Build the Builder echoes the charge given to NHCA by its newly installed board: Build value. Build capacity. Build wealth.

We hope you’ll join us. Registration is available exclusively through NHCA’s portal, and space is limited. This is your chance to invest in yourself, think bigger, and take action. Because together, we’re not just building buildings—we’re building a movement.
